Yesterday, my grandmother passed away.
She held my mother's hand, gave the thumbs up, and simply left to play with the merry little breezes.
Tomorrow, I'll be turning 40.
Life moves pretty fast.
If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
See you soon.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you and your family are doing okay.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any grandparents left, and I'm really not looking forward to losing my parents (who often talk like it will be any day now...).
It is good to mark the passage of time with a pause to see the past as it really was (what a wonderful photograph). and to see the present in the moment. May your fortieth be a celebration of your wonderful life, and may there be a sweet breeze to play with.
ReplyDeletethinking of you and your family so much. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo sorry. Grandparents are special people in our lives. You were so lucky to have had a Grandmother. You are also lucky to be entering your 4th decade.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Thinking of you and your family. Although I know it will be bittersweet, happy birthday tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to see my grandmother at the end of the month; she's 98 and according to my mother is fading from week to week. It feels both like a normal part of life, and a wrenchingly wrong thing, to contemplate her not being there.
98-wow. That's a fantastic picture, absolutely beautiful. I'm glad she was able to leave this world on her own terms. Happy birthday
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary photo -- and your words are perfect. I'm sorry for your loss --
ReplyDeleteAwww, so sorry to hear this. I've been missing my grandpa Paul since 1989. Take what solace you can in the fact that you got to spend 40 years getting to know her!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for your loss. I just lost my grandmother, who was 98, so I think I understand what you are going through. Condolences and my very best wishes to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteBurgin,
ReplyDeleteVery sad. We are reminded daily how fleeting and precious life is. I am sure you have some great memories of your grandmother.

Oh... Could just cry with you... So sorry, but... so glad it was a sweet passing. Please know that I am praying for you... and me... as my own grandparents are not doing well. Just heart breaking... Love them so.

The merry little breezes! What a lovely thought -- I like to think that there is such a place as Mother West Wind country, I think that there must be a place like that, somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that your mother was able to be with her mother at the end. I'm sad that you lost your grandma.
I was never close with either of my grandmothers, and it is a great happiness in my life that both of my daughter's grandmas live close by and that they are both a huge part of her life.
Congrats on 40! I'm 42 and I swear there is practically never a day that goes by where that fact doesn't BLOW MY MIND. That was a very awkward sentence. Like, in 8 yrs I'll be 50! And I still talk like a Valley Girl! And think of myself as a girl!
Life is funny. XO
