Great Monday Give: The Monster at the End of This Book

Let us hark back to my secret Muppet past for a moment. As longtime readers know, I was a huge Jim Henson fan in my youth and worked for the company for a while when I was in New York in their children's publishing division.... So I'm still a sucker for vintage Sesame Street, and usually can't say no, like in this case... The Great Monday Give for today is a sweet, 1977-printing vintage edition of THE Sesame Street classic, the Little Golden Book fave, The Monster at the End of This Book starring Lovable, Furry Old Grover. I know everyone and their grandmother has a copy of this book, but I still thought somebody, somewhere might still need to give their child the creeps in the most wonderful way.     I'm not entering the contest, because we already have this wonderful book and don't want to deprive someone else of its joys. I'm just chiming in here to mention that it was one of my favorite books as a kid, and is one of my ten-year-old's all-time favorites. She even attempts a priceless imitation of Grover that never fails to give me the giggles.

    I have this book so please don't consider this an entry...just wanted to say this is one of my very favorites from childhood. So very much fun. Grover at this best. There is a new one that features Elmo as well and it isn't nearly as cute.

    Oh, am I tearing up??? Goodness... sniff... Okay, so I just had a rush of nostalgia. I loved this book as a kid. Funny that it is "my" year, too. I can't seem to find my copy, and I don't know why. Panicking just a bit at the moment, over that. I love vintage Sesame Street, the books, the shows, the 70's and 80's music and animation. I have two other vintage SS books that I also loved as a kid. Bert and Ernie in The Perils Of Penelope AND Molly Moves To Sesame Street. Both are in great condition because, though I read them often, I was really careful with them. Would love to obtain more. If you are okay with internationals, I would love to be entered, thank you. And, I did not know that you worked for Jim Hensen for a bit. Very interesting bit of trivia. :-)

    How could any one not love a man who said:

    One of my favorite characters, next to kermit, is Grover, who was all about refining life experience and learning through trial and error. He demonstrated that it’s okay to make mistakes. He even has his own Wikipedia page selectively quoted here.

    "Grover, the Muppet character from Sesame Street is the self-described 'lovable, cute and furry' monster who almost never uses contractions when speaking or singing.He made his first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in a 1967 Christmas Eve special, where He was referred to as "Gleep", a monster in Santa's workshop." - "During the first season of Sesame Street, the character was nicknamed "Fuzzyface" or "The Hairy One", though neither would be used for his actual name.     As i get older I find myself collecting more and more childrens books. This is one of my favorites, and automatically reminds me of my father (who does a flawless Grover imitation). being reminded of it really made my day. I would love to win a copy :)
