Oh my! For fear of being Number One ... because Number One is never drawn ... I'll be in this drawer! I had this book when I was a wee-bitty thing! I'd completely forgotten it ... I'm now going to do a search on it.

Oh Maurice, how I love you! I find it funny how the illustration of the rabbit resembles Max's wolf suit in 'Where the Wild Things Are.'

I'm illustrating a story, and stumbled upon your blog while googling images for inspiration.
I was so so happy to find your blog - I have a goodly collection of vintage kid's books, but was so excited to find illustrators I had never heard of (scott johnston and james flora are amazing, and I have never seen the merry shipwreck - awesome. If I could, I would change my name to "tibor gergeley", the best name ever.)
