The Great Monday Give: Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present
The Great Monday Give is here at last after an extended two-week hiatus. Up for grabs this week is an excellent vintage book club hard copy of the Zolotow and Sendak classic, Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present. All you have to do to be entered to win is comment on this post between now and Sunday (3/6) at 11:59 PM. A winner will be selected randomly and announced the next day. And in case you were wondering... Catherine is the winner of last week's give of the copy of Otto by Tomi Ungerer! Congrats and e-mail me webe(at)soon(dot)com, and I'll try and send it sooner rather than later. Bye for now...

Oh my! For fear of being Number One ... because Number One is never drawn ... I'll be in this drawer! I had this book when I was a wee-bitty thing! I'd completely forgotten it ... I'm now going to do a search on it.
Tugging the nostalgic heart strings.
I love this one, too, and my kids have never read it yet--better get it from the library. Thanks!
Curse you for making me realize M. Sendak did so much more than I realized.
Thanks for the chance to win. I love anything Zolotow!
Very divergent from his signature style. Is it an early work of his? Looks interesting!
Will have to look for this one at the library next time.
I would love to have this one! Thanks.
Oh Maurice, how I love you! I find it funny how the illustration of the rabbit resembles Max's wolf suit in 'Where the Wild Things Are.'
What a treasure! I'd love to win a copy of this one.
Would LOVE this for my kindergarten program!
Would love to win this book!

I didn't know this book, but it seems really a special one, a classic of Sendak first drawns!!
I am intrigued - looks like an interesting read.
We'd love this one! Thanks for the chance at it.
Two great names in children's books - can't go wrong with this one.
I love Sendak!!
I didn't know any work of Sendak apart the Wild things..So thanks for the information!
Love Sendak, but I've never read this one!
I love Sendak, but, I've never read this one. Looks like a treat!
Woo-hoo! I won Otto! I'm thrilled. I'll pop you an e-mail straightaway!

What a lovely book looks to be!
I think I keep posting in the wrong place...I love this book and would love to win a copy.
omigosh -
I'm illustrating a story, and stumbled upon your blog while googling images for inspiration.
I was so so happy to find your blog - I have a goodly collection of vintage kid's books, but was so excited to find illustrators I had never heard of (scott johnston and james flora are amazing, and I have never seen the merry shipwreck - awesome. If I could, I would change my name to "tibor gergeley", the best name ever.)
Thanks for posting these, and for the monday give, very neat :-)
I don't know this one, but love both creators.
This is awesome!!
I love most of Sendak's works!
:D :) :D
i looooove maurice sendak, and i don't know this book....! thank you.
