The second Ungerer my son fell in love with (after Crictor, of course) has been back in the rotation of late, much to my delight. I swear, every child I know who owns this book adores it, so I figured it was overdue for a dusting off. Here, for your Update Friday pleasure, is an update of my June 2008 post of Tomi's fabulous The Hat. (Sadly it seems Crictor needs a polishing, too... does it ever end!?!) Enjoy!

Update Friday: The Hat
The second Ungerer my son fell in love with (after Crictor, of course) has been back in the rotation of late, much to my delight. I swear, every child I know who owns this book adores it, so I figured it was overdue for a dusting off. I'm a big, big Tomi Ungerer fan. My favorite book is his wonderful The Beast of Monsieur Racine.

That's too funny. I bought that for the bub for Christmas and forgot about it and never gave it to him. Now I don't know where the hell it is. Curious.
ReplyDeletei LOVE ungerer and one of my most favorite books of his when i was little was "zelda and the ogre." ha! his illustrations are not to be paralleled. :) thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnother favorite! I had a copy of Ungerer's "Moon Man" as a child, and still treasure it, even though it's falling to pieces. When I had children of my own, I decided to track down a more intact copy to share with my girls, and in the process discovered "The Hat" as well.
