Before becoming a children's book author, Jack Kent drew a daily comic strip during the 50s and 60s that ran throughout North America called King Aroo. Today marks the release of the first book in a multiple volume series which will eventually reprint the entire strip. King Aroo Volume One covers all the daily and Sunday comics from 1950-1952 and gives a pretty thorough history of Jack's early life and work. Coincidentally, I approached the editor of our local alternative weekly about doing a story on Jack Kent (as he was one of San Antonio's finest!), and all of it happened to come together and correspond with the release of the book. AWESOME! Congrats on the article! Your week inspired me to update his bibliography on Wiki some more (there were a few books missing... and there are still a few more that I know I've missed).
