Let me first start by saying I AM SO PSYCHED!!!!!! If you all read my blog on a regular basis, you know that one of my favorite children's book author/illustrators is a man by the name of Jack Kent. Jack Kent also drew a daily comic strip for 15 years way back when, and this week, the first volume of a series of books that will eventually reprint the entire strip is being released, King Aroo Volume 1. Some of this stuff hasn't seen the light of day since the 1950s!
That said, I've had something exciting in the works for a while concerning Jack that I will reveal on Wednesday... but in the meantime, there's the build up, the drum roll... and a few days of tipping the hat in store. So to celebrate, this week is officially Jack Kent week here at VKBMKLs. You'll be learning a lot about Jack in the coming days. There will be book reviews and a special guest blogger and all kinds of fun stuff so be sure and tune in all week for the love fest.
Needless to say, the Great Monday Give this week is a grab bag of Jack Kent books for your reading pleasure. More Spaghetti, I Say!, Jack Kent's Twelve Days of Christmas, There's No Such Thing as a Dragon and The Biggest Shadow in the Zoo. To be entered to win this four-pack of joy, simply comment on this post before midnight Valentine's Day, Sunday 2/14. A winner will be announced the following morning.
If you haven't acquainted yourself with Jack's stuff before and you don't win the GMG, I suggest you start with his first children's book, Just Only John, and move on to Mr. Meebles and Dooly and the Snortsnoot from there. But really, any you can get your mitts on will do!
Soooooo, as to not delay this week from beginning... The winner of last week's give, the smokin' great paperback copy of Eloise is Chantele! Just send me your mailing info to webe(at)soon(dot)com to collect your prize. In the meantime, see you later this morning kids!
What a great give-away! Would love to receive this!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love Jack Kent! And I don't think I have any of those...*crosses fingers*
ReplyDeleteHow have I never read Jack Kent? Looking forward to the week & would love to win. :)
ReplyDeleteBring on the love fest!
ReplyDeleteChantele - what a lovely name, and a lucky lady! I do wish luck would come this way once more too...
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting--love all the teasers, and I'm looking forward to what's in store this week!
ReplyDelete*NOT AN ENTRY* I just wanted to say WOOOOHOO!!! Jack Kent week! Yayayayyayayyayayay! I own all the books in the giveaway (except "12 Days"), so don't enter me.
ReplyDeleteBy the way: I LOVE the book & record of "There's No Such Thing as a Dragon" (the songs on it are GREAT). I have about 18 Jack Kent (by and just illustrated by) books, and I treasure them... but I still want more, ha ha. None of mine a very rare, but I like the uniqueness of some of them. "The Funny Book," is my rarest, and it is a lot of fun to look through, but not really fun to read.
What an awesome giveaway...
ReplyDeleteWe don't have any of those! Please oh please randomly choose me!
ReplyDeleteJack Kent!!! Jack Kent!!! fingers crossed.
ReplyDeletei can't wait for this week of jack kent goodness! this is going to be good! xoxo
ReplyDeleteJack Kent is one of my favorites, as well.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I kept reading "Jack Kent" as "Jack Keats." I was like, Man, this stuff is great but it looks NOTHING like The Snowy Day. Wah-waaah.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely sign me up for the giveaway, I'd love to be better-acquainted with Kent's work.
We *love* Jack Kent around here!
ReplyDeleteThey sound lovely, although we are all a bit too old in this household for them -- but after reading them here, they would be donated to the library of the elementary school across the street where my father, I, and one of my kids went!
ReplyDeleteCount me in! I'm drooling over here.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to read your posts during Jack Kent Week! What a wonderful give away. I loved Jack Kent's "Socks for Supper" and would love you win these books!
