Pouring here in San Antonio with flooding on the way. And I feel a cold coming on. Awesome. I thought I'd lived through the boy and his swine flu, but who knows... That said. Today for the Great Monday Give, I'll be giving away a vintage copy of the sweet Golden Guide: Birds. It's really my son's favorite book ever, so if you love birds as we do, make sure you comment on this post between now and midnight, Sunday ~ November 1. A winner will be selected at random and posted the following day.
And the winner of last week's give, the 3-book Three Tales of My Father's Dragon series is MoziEsme. Congrats and e-mail me your info to webe(at)soon(dot)com to come face to face with My Father's Dragon and its two followup adventures! Stay dry or get wet, whichever applies. (And stay tuned this week for some spooky book picks to celebrate pumpkin day!)

The cover is beautiful! It makes me miss sping.
My son loves birds. This book would be wonderful to help that interest along. Thank you!
My kids are just now at the age where we can start doing some backyard birding in earnest--and I'll be learning right alongside them! This looks like a lovely resource.
oh yes, besides reading children's books - we love bird watching!
I would love to win a copy. It looks like a wonderful book.
birds! yes, please!
I loved bird books as a child. I was totally obsessed with pilated wood peckers (not sure why). Thanks for reminding me of a great memory!
I love bird books!
I think we must be shopping at the same thrift shops {I live in San Antonio as well} as I keep seeing books I've seen in the shops!
Love the blog BTW.
MAS$$... keep those secrets close to your chest sister and maybe i'll meet you at the stacks some day!
Ooooh pick me, please! We are a bird-watching family.
my 1 year old daughter starts shaking with excitement when she see birds. i can't think of anything nicer than to sit with her and look through this beautiful book.
my favorite niece absolutely adores birds and this book would make the perfect birthday present from her loving aunty sheri
this is a great book. my late grandmother had this one and several others in her collection. the birds still flock to her home, on any one day i will see 10 to 12 different ones just sitting in her living room for an hour. they are so fun to watch. no need to pick me for the book just wanted to say how great it truly was.
OH!! I would love to have this book!!! Please pick me. I know my kids would love to peruse each page, but... so would I!! Thanks for hte chance... Love it!!
My son is always asking me for the names of the butterflies and birds he sees outside and in books, this would be cool for him. Thanks for such a great blog, I'm constantly typing things into Austin's library catalog search hoping they have them for checkout.
Lovely birds. I had a "Western Birds" book once. The illustration on the cover is so familiar!
