Welcome to another edition of the Great Monday Give, the moment when I give a gently-loved vintage kids' book away to one lucky reader. Today's give is a nice hardcover copy of Hooper Humperdink...? NOT HIM! with the original illustrations by Charles E. Martin. All you have to do to be entered to win is leave a comment on this post by Sunday ~ March 29 at midnight... A winner will be selected the following day by the highly-technical blind scroll and randomly point method.
So, who's the winner of last week's give of Grover and the Everything in the Whole Wide World Museum you ask? The one and only (I think only... don't quote me on that) Seastar! Just e-mail me your info at webe(at)soon(dot)com and the book shall be yours! See ya.
How wonderful is this? My sister just sent me a link to your blog, knowing that I would love it. I've been collecting vintage children's books since I was a teenager! (Sort of half-heartedly, admittedly, but still!) I can't wait to explore your blog a little more but I wanted to jump in and comment on this post while I had a minute or two. What a wonderful way to start the week!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are big Seuss fans--well, I suppose what kid isn't!
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds like fun. So why did Seuss not illustrate it himself?
ReplyDeleteI just recently discovered your blog and love it. We went to the library this weekend and picked up a number of your recent entries. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteLove all things Suess!
ReplyDeleteOh, i love this!!! Please, do enter me. and i do have an address in the States... Have a great day...
ReplyDeletewhenever dr. seuss wrote something and let someone else illustrate it, he used the LeSeig name... i have to think since he was the editor there at beginner books that it was a way to mentor and/or make money for his hatchlings... get their names out there. who knows... anyone?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great book--I'd just gotten that one for my kids from the library the other day.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I'd meant to leave a comment on your Sir Toby post--I just found that at a thrift store a few days before your post. I was so thrilled to find it because my all-time favorite book, (Stand Back Said the Elephant...) is by the same author. (I have three copies of that book, so I can eventually pass them down to each of my children.)
Anyway, I love your blog, and I always find it funny when I've just discovered something I haven't seen before and then you post about it (which has happened a few times now) or when you lead me to some exciting discovery. Thanks so much!
I adored this book when I was a child! My mother gave away our toys and books to Navy Relief, and I miss my books the most. Now I scour every garage sale, and used bookstore I can for books from my childhood, many now out of print.
ReplyDeleteWould love it!
ReplyDeleteI love Dr. Seuss - great giveaway!
