I can't get it together to post more than one Great Monday Give today, but the good news is it is back at all! And it is a great one. So yea, for those of you new arrivals, Monday is the day that I give away a vintage book for free. Many times I find books for a song and pass the savings along to you by asking for no cash at all. Sometimes they are old copies. Sometimes they are new copies of old books. Sometimes they are exlibrary books. Sometimes they are out of print paperbacks, like today.
Sooooo, the book up for grabs on this lovely morning is a newish paperback copy of One Monster After Another by Mercer Mayer. There is no way you can not dig this book. As long as your kid understands that monsters are not real and are not looking to eat your postage, they should be cool too.
To be entered to win, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post before midnight Sunday, August 24. Then Monday, I will randomly pick a winner. Barring any other family emergencies, you can expect one of these giveaways every Monday hence forth, so stick around.
That said, good luck, and stay tuned for a review later in the day!

I'm going to see Mackenzie this weekend, but soon I'll be able to read her books over the phone. Or Skype.
Hello,
With your interest in vintage children’s books, I wondered if you had ever come across one I have been looking for a long time with no luck.
'The Tiger That Eat Stories'
It was published I think during the 60's, it would have been around 1969-72 that my mother or I would read the stories to my younger sister. Each story started with a little boy having just gone to bed and about to be read a bedtime story by his mother. Sometimes on the bed, and sometimes on the floor, was a tiger, which was about the same shape and size as A.A.Milne's Tigger in 'The House At Pooh Corner'.
The child and tiger would keep interrupting the mother with questions of why this or that, was happening in the story. The tiger would also insist that if it was a weak story, he would roll over on his back and with his legs pointing straight up, die. As he eat stories.
As of the time, the drawings were just little pen and ink drawings of the tiger at the start of the chapters.
It might of course only have been published in the UK, but who knows! So far I have never come across anyone who has read the book or remembers it. No luck on the internet either so far.
Maybe you have come across it?
published in 1974 the year i was born! Hope i win! love your blog
